Vision & Strategic Planning

Faithful intention is not the same as faithful execution. Chapter 7 of the Church Roadmap book addresses one of the most common gaps in church life: the absence of clear, shared, and disciplined planning rooted in a compelling WHY, Core Values, Mission, and Vision for a brighter future. Strategic planning, as presented here, incorporates proven best practices for churches and is not a mere “corporate” exercise or bureaucratic burden.

The Stewardship Calling model of Vision and Strategic Planning is solidly based on biblical principles and mandates and Christ’s teachings and examples, using proven and effective approaches for churches. This vision and strategic planning comprehensive process involves an act of discernment of where a parish is and helps align its resources, energy, and priorities with the purpose God has entrusted to it.

This part of the Church Roadmap book walks leaders through the essential work of clarifying: (a) the “WHY” of the parish (its fundamental purpose); (b) its Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (where it currently is); (c) its Mission (what it does); (d) its Core Values (defining its culture); (e) its Vision (where it will be in the future); (f) Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-scheduled (S.M.A.R.T.) Strategic Goals; and (g) a comprehensive step-by-step Action Plan to achieve its future vision.

Planning done well creates unity rather than division, momentum rather than fatigue, and confidence rather than confusion. Chapter 7 of the Church Roadmap book equips churches to move from good intentions to sustained, mission-centered, trnasformational action.
